Spindles Continue to Score in a Dominant Win Over Deathwish

Spindles 6 - 1 Deathwish

14’ - Trestick

17’ - Crook (Adjei)

22’ - Locicero (Adjei)

33’ - Trestick (Kievit)

72’ - Breen

87’ - Trestick (Sanchez)

After a big victory last week, Spindles continued that momentum with another party of goals in Matchweek 2.

Despite the lack of field maintenance by the Town of Guilderland, and endless rain, the match played on through long grass and cones for end lines.

A slow first 10 minutes for Spindles was quickly shut down, when Zeidane Ajdei took a free kick from 25 yards out. Forcing the keeper to make a save, before Anders Trestick followed up on the rebound. 1-0, 14’.

The flood gates were officially open.

Shortly after, Adjei creates another oppurtunity with a corner kick. The Deathwish keeper came out only to get a fingertip to it. Dan Crook followed up on the back post for an easy tap-in. The captains second of the season. 2-0, 17’.

Spindles continued to press for more.

On a calm counterattack, Adjei dribbled through before passing it out left to John Locicero. 30 yards out, Locicero takes a touch then curves one over and around the keeper into the top left corner. His third of the season. 3-0, 22’.

10 minutes later, another counter started by Mason Kievit finds Trestick alone on the right wing. Trestick gets past 2 before slotting one home in the bottom left corner. His second of the game. 4-0, 33’.

Spindles looked to close out the half with a clean sheet but unfortunately conceded to a scrappy goal in the 40’.

The second half began calmer for the Spins, but still creating more chances.

The deadlock was broken almost 30 minutes in, when a deflected shot by Frankie Palumbo was scooped up by Adam Singaporewala, who found Jimmy Alexander as the 6 yard box. Alexanders shot is saved by the keeper, before Ryan Breen finishes the rebound. His first of the season. 5-1, 72’.

Spindles continued to look for more goals.

In the dying moments of the game, a cross from Danny Sanchez would find Trestick in the box. He settles it cleanly, pushes right and buries one home. Completing his hat-trick for his fourth of the season and the clubs first ever hat-trick.

Those 3 goals would be enough to earn Trestick the 7 Brothers Landscaping Man of the Match.

Spindles have a quick turnaround this Tuesday against league champions FCSB at 6:15pm on Field 2, Nott Road Park.
