The Spins Salvage a Point in Another High-Scoring Affair

Spindles 3 - 3 Ligon

4’- Locicero (Lopez)

24’ - Trestick (Crook)

89’ - Adjei (Kankam)

Thursday nights matchup against Ligon FC proved to be tough one, as Spindles could not take the lead once during the match.

Things kicked off right away when a scrappy free kick found the feet of a Ligon player in in the first 2 minutes.

However, it only took Spindles 2 minutes to get one back. A freekick from Marcos Lopez from half field found John Locicero on the left side, who hit a half volley up and over the keeper. His 8th of the season. 1-1, 4’.

Chances continued on both ends.

15 minutes later, Ligon are wide open at the top of the box when they score a volley to take the lead again.

Less than 10 minutes later, Spindles continued to press for another equalizer.

A ball over the backline from Dan Crook found Anders Trestick 1v1 with the keeper, before slotting it between his legs. His 6th of the season. 2-2, 24’.

At that moment, it seemed like Spindles could gain control.

However, a threaded pass in behind the Spindles defense found a Ligon attacker 1v1 with the keeper, taking the lead again.

The half ended 3-2 Ligon.

At that point it was clear that Spindles needed to at least get a point out of this match.

Spindles piled on the pressure in the second half.

Several chances just going wide, but not in the back of the net.

It was not until the dying moments, when newcomer David Kankam burst down the right wing, before hitting a low cross across the box where Zeidane Adjei brought us level again. His 4th of the season 3-3, 89’.

The game ended in a draw, and a point for both sides.

The clubs first draw in almost 2 years.

Spindles are back at it on Tuesday night against the league champs, FCSB. Nott Road Park at 6:15pm, Field 1.
