Spindles United were back at home for a second straight weekend, looking to bounce back from last weeks home loss to Mohawk City FC.

This time, the Spins were hosting Collar City FC of Troy, NY who claimed a 1-0 victory earlier in the season.

A beautiful night in Waterford and a great turnout to celebrate grassroots football.

The match was a tight contest for all in attendance and online in the stream. Spindles started the game with most of the possession. However, it was Collar City who would open the scoring early after a mix up between the Spindles back line and goalkeeper. 0-1, 8’.

The early deficit did not change the Spins plan. Shortly after conceding, Spindles winger Anders Trestick took the ball down the right wing before pinging a long cross into the box. It was there that Matt Rabadi let the ball take one bounce before taking it out of the air with the side of his foot. Calmly putting it in the back of the net from a tight angle. His first goal in the UPL. 1-1, 12’.

The rest of the match remained close, but Spindles had a handful of chances to take the lead in both the first and second half.

Despite the chances, nobody could convert as the match ended 1-1, keeping both teams level on points in the UPL after Matchweek 7.

Matt Rabadi was named Man of the Match for his attacking performance and scoring his first goal of the season to level the match.
