Thursday nights matchup against Deathwish was the second and final meeting between the two sides in the regular season.

Spindles came into the game with one goal in mind. All 3 points had to be secured

The game started out fast, with Spindles possessing well, chances flew in within the first 15 minutes.

Deathwish countered with a fast break, and to stop it, lead to a foul, inside the box. Penalty., Deathwish converts against the run of play.

After that, Deathwish maintained compact, keeping everyone behind the ball and playing solid defense, it frustrated the Spins.

Although they dominated in possession, Spindles were down at the half.

In need of a reaction, it didn’t take long to get back into the game. Spindles started to execute their high press, causing to a turnover and combination play between Ryan Breen and Josh Donner. After a quick 1-2 with eachother, Donner scores. 1-1, 56’.

Spindles were back in the game, dominating possession which caused problems to the Deathwish back line. Deathwish foul leading to a free kick in the final third. A good ball in finds Ryan Breen who shows composure and a quality pass finding Mason Kievit, who promptly scores his first goal for Spindles United. 2-1, 67’.

With the lead, Spindles looked to get one more to finish the game off.

A through ball from the Spins defense lead to a dangerous situation for Deathwish in the 83rd minute. The ball falls to Frankie Palumbo who simply passes it to Macros Lopez, who rips a 30 yard shot and scores top corner. 3-1, 83’.

After a hard fought 90 minutes, Spins win 3-1. The man of the match award went to both Ryan Breen and Mason Kievit, whose individual efforts contributed to the win.

Spindles return to action Tuesday, July 1st against Highlanders. 6:15pm at Nott Road.
