Despite starting the season 3-0, Spindles were held scoreless on Sunday afternoon after conceding a late second half goal to Highlanders.

The match did not offer much from either side.

Midfield battles lost and won by both teams, with a handful of chances at both ends.

Spindles, dealing with a few injuries in the first half came out in the second with more build up play and chances on goal.

However, no one was able to break the deadlock.

Despite a strong defensive performance from the Spindles backline, with less than 10 minutes to go, an error led to a 1-1 and easy finish for highlanders. 0-1, 82’.

Spindles pushed but could not find the net.

The match ended 1-0 to Highlanders, handing Spindles their loss of the season.

Spindles have no time rest, as they return to Nott Road, Field 2 on Tuesday at 6:15pm against Vassi Realty. The team that knocked Spindles out of last years semi-final.
