Jad Essoulaimani is one of the three founders of Spindles United Football Club. Jad will be in charge of the development of players for this season and years to come. His ball knowledge and ability to see what others can’t on the field are massive for the club and its future players.
Jad graduated from Cohoes High School in 2022. He is currently studying at the University at Albany. Jad's ties with Cohoes soccer go back several years from the city's rec-soccer to his last season as a Cohoes Tiger last fall.
When we launched Spindles United in March ‘22, Jad was kept a bit under the radar. So as we gear up for the 2023 season, I wanted to take the time to give people more of an understanding of who Jad is.
How did you become a founder of Spindles United?
“It started out as an idea when realizing my senior season of high school soccer was coming to an end. I realized I probably won't be able to play competitively again as I chose to not go and play soccer in college.”
“However, I loved the sport too much to just stop and give up on it after all of those years of dedication. So I got in touch with you to let you know about the idea of possibly putting a team together.”
“I know you were going through some things as well, which is why you found it to be an easy decision. You then got in touch with Jarron to join this partnership, and we all came together to turn this little idea we had into a reality.”
What can you bring to the table for this team?
“I’ve played soccer since I was 5 or 6 and have consistently watched soccer games since I was 10. I feel like with my knowledge and experience playing on multiple clubs throughout my youth and watching soccer most of my life, I know what it takes to run a soccer team from the field, to behind the scenes.”
What areas of the team are you looking to improve on in 2023?
“I feel one thing we lacked last season was our team morale. I look to improve and make everyone on the team feel wanted and bond together as one. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”
Wrap up
The 2023 season will be the second year of the club’s existence. That being said, the Spins have a heavy road ahead of them to success. We look to improve the product of the team both on and off the field. It will be an interesting lead-up into regular season play. Only time will reveal the true potential of this club.
